The other day I received an email from an unknown fellow colleague under the ubiquitous title of "thought for the day". Generally I delete these without a glance but something prompted me to look into it that day - and the thought involved 10 points about being and staying Creative. One struck me as particularly interesting. It went
" Ask "what if" questions. Just for fun and see where the answers take you. What if that building could talk, what would it say, what stories would it tell? "
I know it's something that we would have probably done in school but I thought it would be fun to give it a shot. So here goes nothing.
What if the roads could talk.......
I think the road may grumble that nobody took care of it. I think it would blame the people who ride it everyday - and grumble that the government does nothing to maintain it. It would say "Look at those people: they want me to look good and remain smooth ; but do they shell one rupee to make sure that I am always presentable"
I think the road may be resentful that we are always comparing it to other roads in foreign countries. Afer all, it would say " Do foreign roads support a populace such as ours? Do foreign roads provide shelter to so many homeless people?"
The road may wish for those days of Old when boys played cricket on them and couples walked on them hand in hand or on horse carriages.. now no one stops - not for one second even - to appreciate and enjoy the road.
And yet no matter what the road will always welcome us ... without prejudice and without pride! "
