My dad is an insurance advisor and it’s no wonder then that I get to learn a whole lot (much more than I care to know) about the insurance industry in India. For instance, men in this country think it’s an important duty to buy a life insurance cover for themselves, coming from a long tradition of being the bread earners, even in death. Ask these men whether they would like insurance cover for their wives, and that’s always in the negative. Somehow the notion of getting money if she dies does not go well with their psyche. Of course, this is not true of every man in India. And whether this is noble or stupid, is for you to decide.
But here is the part that baffles me the most - have you ever noticed couples on a two wheeler? Men who are smart enough to wear helmets, don’t seem to think it is necessary for their wives to wear them ! I mean think about it – is there some rule that says you’re the only one who can fall off the bike! Now that’s plain dumb!!

Well, the helmets are required to protect heads. Have you noticed what happens when an air filled balloon hits the road? Nothin!! It stays intact. Thats Y men usually dont bother about women wearing helmets :-)
