8500 settlers are being evacuated from the Gaza strip. What a time in history it is! Sometimes history is made as we speak and so few of us are even aware of it. I found the scenes that were broadcast on CNN of the forced evacuation both tragic and heartening. It was tragic to watch the Jewish soldiers uprooting their own people from their own soil. It was heartening to watch the way in which the soldiers went about it. It took a lot from the soldiers to break their resistance but it was done in peace – no one resorted to any violence. The government had to be obeyed, the job had to be done but these were their people and they felt for them. This takes on more significance when it follows so close on the heels of what happened in Gurgaon. Why is it that Indians feel nothing towards their own people? What has happened to the India that created a Mahatma Gandhi? To put it in the words of the Black Eyed Peas "Where is the love?"
